Administrative Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Chapin is the Chief Medical Officer for Great Lakes Bay Health Centers headquartered in Saginaw, Michigan. Great Lakes Bay Health Centers serves communities and patients in a 16-county area in Michigan. Dr. Chapin previously served in various healthcare leadership positions with Region 7 Area Agency on Agency, McLaren Health System, and Spectrum Health in Michigan. Much of his professional career was practicing emergency medicine in the Hudson and Mohawk River Valleys in New York State. He served in a variety of leadership roles in emergency departments and emergency medicine management companies before assuming the CMO role at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson NY in 2008. Quality Improvement, High Reliability science, Lean Healthcare Management, and Just Culture implementation within medical staff processes encompass his main administrative and leadership interests. Dr. Chapin obtained his medical degree from the MSU College of Human Medicine. He completed the Family Medicine Residency Program at the Midland Hospital Center. Dr. Chapin is married to Karen and lives in Midland, MI. He enjoys bicycling, amateur radio, traveling and spending time with family.
