Residency Education

Central Michigan University (CMU) College of Medicine is an accredited medical school and a leader for graduate and continuing medical education in Michigan. The College’s mission is to educate diverse students and train culturally competent physicians to provide comprehensive health care and services to underserved populations in Michigan and beyond.

Great Lakes Bay Health Centers’ own MiDOCs Family Medicine Residency Clinic opened in July of 2019 in partnership with CMU’s Family Medicine Residency. MiDOCs residents have the unique opportunity and privilege of caring for patients at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Saginaw, Michigan at a Great Lakes Bay Health Center site. For their participation in the MiDOCs program, the residents may earn a $75,000 loan repayment award.

Additionally, the MiDOCs Residency Program provides residents the opportunity to care for patients as a part of an extensive and holistic healthcare team including onsite behavioral health, counseling services, substance use treatment and support, physical therapy services, pharmacy and social work services. FQHC’s form the basis of our nation’s primary healthcare services to uninsured and underserved patient populations. The MiDOCs Program, in partnership with Great Lakes Bay Health Centers, offers medical residents the wonderful privilege of learning medicine while serving the community.
